Hey! I’m Scott, the owner of MountainWP, a small business nestled in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. We’ve been in business since 2017 and I’ve been ensconced in the WordPress (WP) ecosystem since 2007. In 2022, we pivoted from providing general website maintenance and management services to only working with healthcare businesses that are covered entities under HIPAA to help with website compliance.
Also, in 2022, my wife Sarah and I co-founded AlpineForm. We started this service to help healthcare providers improve patient experiences by offering a more accessible way to fill out forms. Plus, it’s a way to practice what we preach about HIPAA compliance.
Sarah is a licensed occupational therapist (OT) and has years of experience in both clinical and community settings working under HIPAA regulations. The field of OT is all about helping people figure out how to optimally perform tasks when impairments are present.
We both serve on the Advisory Council for the Virginia Assistive Technology System under the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services. Through this position, we’re regularly looking at products to help people in our communities be more independent.
Merging experience with WP and our perspectives on assistive technology (AT), we created AlpineForm as a solution for people with difficulty with handwriting to use AT (in this case, computers or smartphones) to fill out their patient forms without assistance.
Oh, and about the wheelchair: I broke my neck in 1999 due to a bad fall while snow skiing. This resulted in a spinal cord injury and multiple neurological deficits, including the loss of hand function, which makes handwriting difficult (and often illegible).
We also co-founded a nonprofit called The Universal Design Project . A portion of AlpineForm’s profits goes toward advancing universally accessible housing. Accessibility is in our blood.
Thanks for checking us out!
