MountainWP helps fund The Universal Design Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to address the significant lack of universally accessible housing in America.
I broke my neck & injured my spinal cord in a skiing accident when I was 18. I’ve dealt with frustrations with inaccessibility for nearly 20 years.
We want everyone to have a functional and affordable place to live, but there’s a huge shortage of accessible housing in America. This makes it really difficult for people affected by disability.
We believe that this is largely a design problem. The solution is to bring designers together with people who have a deep understanding of the different ways that people are affected by disability.
Where does the money go?
Funds are used to pay for capacity building and for health professionals & support staff to be involved in design projects. Why? Because the more people involved, the more costly the design process becomes.
