What metrics matter?

We’re weird here at MountainWP. We don’t use social media. We don’t track page views or visitors. This decision came out of frustration at how much effort goes into metrics that don’t really matter.

Thing is, our brains have been conditioned to look at these things, kind of how muscle memory works. Maybe it’s due to a desire for validation or a desire to be seen. Do those things matter? Yeah, a little, but they don’t keep a business moving forward. Customers do.

As I write more on this blog, I admit I get curious about who’s reading it or where traffic is coming from. I’ll instinctively look for analytics data in the WordPress dashboard. That data doesn’t exist on this site. It’s a jarring reminder to focus on what matters.

Helping people is what matters.

Not clicks.
